Blogging = Passée
Then it happens again, times change… things go out of fashion. New trends replace old trends. The finger gave way to the toothbrush. The blog just gave way.
This isn't a bitch; I ain't narky about it. Let it happen I say! Move onto the new. I'm a friend to change. Just yesterday I threw out a pair of underpants.
I am writing this for a reason though, not just a testament of my ability to be down with new shit. I just need to vent a little. Not an angry vent, a sad vent.
I remember a time when I could surf the various blogs and read what was happening in my friends lives. I'd visit the Bewildebeast and read about his adventures in film class, flick across to one of Paul's rather large blogs, read the first and last paragraph and wonder what was going on in Scroop's now non-existent blog. It was nice. It inspired me to start my own blog. Happy times. The air was golden back then, the leaves were brown, the grass was green.
I find myself now looking at last published dates like I'm looking at death dates on tombstones. It strikes a small stab of sadness in my heart to find that friends just don't have the time to blog anymore.
I can't be a hypocrite, I too have gotten a little slack. I won't mourn about it any longer. Just remember.
When the times are a-changin, and the things we once did to keep us happy no longer happen, we mustn't complain or try to revive what is now dead. All we can do is commemorate those ideals like fallen heroes, and give them salute the only way we now can... by remembering.
This is me - remembering.
Bewildebeast.com, Paul.cechner.com, unremarkable.com, lanceblack.blogspot.com, howilearnedtostopworryingandlove.com, I'm sorry blogging stopped being cool.
I'll carry on... for all of you.
